Manual Therapy
At Alter Physio, manual therapy is grounded in the traditional Japanese approach, which emphasizes gentle, non-manipulative techniques. Unlike the manipulation methods commonly found in Western or Dutch manual therapy, my approach focuses on fostering the body’s natural healing processes through targeted pressure, muscle release, and alignment techniques. By working with the body’s own systems, I create balance and harmony without forceful adjustments.
My Approach
My manual therapy incorporates various techniques designed to relieve pain, enhance mobility, and restore function. These methods include muscle release, nerve and joint mobilization, visceral manipulation to support organ health, and acupuncture for nervous system balance. Inspired by Japanese osteopathy, I focus on promoting the body’s natural healing mechanisms, addressing both physical and internal imbalances.
My therapists assess each individual holistically, taking into account the entire body, not just the areas of discomfort. This personalized approach allows us to address the root cause of symptoms and promote long-term recovery, without the need for invasive manipulation techniques.
Conditions I Treat
Manual therapy at Alter Physio is effective in treating a variety of conditions, including:
Musculoskeletal Pain
Tension, stiffness, and discomfort in areas like the back, neck, shoulders, hips, and joints.
Nervous System Imbalances
Conditions linked to stress, nerve pain, or autonomic nervous system dysfunction.
Digestive Issues
Discomfort associated with imbalances between the internal organs and musculoskeletal system.
Joint Stiffness
Limited range of motion due to muscle imbalances or poor postural alignment.
By blending traditional Japanese manual therapy with modern techniques, I offer a holistic treatment that not only addresses pain but also promotes overall health and well-being. My goal is to guide you to lasting relief and a more balanced, pain-free life, without the need for manipulative therapies.
